Very succesful day with Graham Shaill.

Succesfully installed FM_ESRI _Bkgnd on his machine and hooked it up to his ESRI databases.
Was able to get background maps from his system onto my Juno

Couple of feature requests which I said we would do

Add address search tool
Clean up some minor issues with layer names, selections etc

Have had various emails with Graham Shaill to get the ESRI side of things working

I have asked him to make sure he has the 9.2 ESRI Runtime engine installed (Karl sent him a CD) and he has patched it to SP6.

I have also sent him an EmptyESRI.exe (plus associated dlls.) This exe should just allow him to browse to a saved lyr file and display it on a map control. It has no VD fucntionality and is just to be used to test if the ESRI runtime stuff is working.

We worked out that we need to install the ESRI ArcGIS Engine Runtime

I have asked Karl to copy the runtime CD and post to Graham

He will then install runtime and my application to see if it will successfully access their data. Assuming that goes OK then we will start to tweak the export routine.

They want to be able to just extract a small subset of the data.

The plan is that their Tree man (Mark Pullen) will extract the data he needs just before he goes out to site.

They say this was discussed v early on in the life of the project

So I need to tweak the export routine so that he can just zoom over the area of interest, then hit the GO button to export the data. They will be v happy with this as a solution.

We also want to make the transfer onto the device as smooth as possible – can you forward me whatever tools you have to move the GRP files onto the device please.

I have a scheduled phone call with Graham next Wednesday, so hopefully I can get a near-working solution before then.

With a bit of luck it will all run smoothly and
